End of Year Library Updates
We have thoroughly enjoyed being able to offer library services to our students and staff this year in so many different ways. This update contains some important information as we prepare the library for summer.
Return All Library Books
It is that time of year when all books currently checked out from the Rocky Run Library are now due. Students who have books checked out from our library or their elementary library will receive an email (to their fcpsschools account), along with their enrolling parent, from Destiny Discover with more information. All books can be returned to the book return outside the library or to the book return by Door 1 outside of RRMS.
Summer Checkout for Current 7th Graders:
All current 7th grade students will have the opportunity to check out books for the summer from the RRMS Library. In-person students will visit the library with their English teacher next week, and there are several options for virtual students to get books, too. Students can check out as many books as they can responsibly handle. Books can be returned throughout the summer to the mailbox outside of Door 1 or at the beginning of next school year.
Dates for 7th Grade Virtual Students to Get Library Books:
- June 1: Evening checkout. The link to sign up for a time slot to browse is HERE and will also be available through their English teacher. Transportation is unavailable.
- June 7: The library will be open for checkout during the RRMS celebration.
- June 11, 14, 15: Curbside pickup of holds during laptop collection. Students can put books on hold using their Destiny Discover account or use the book recommendations form (accessed with fcpsschools account) and a librarian will pick out some books for them to pick up when returning their FCPS laptop.
- If your virtual student would like to check out books and none of these options work, please contact a librarian to make alternate arrangements.
eBooks & eAudiobooks Still Available
MackinVIA, our eBooks platform, will also be available throughout the summer for students to use on their computer or any device with internet access. Rising 9th graders will be transferred to their high school’s MackinVIA at some point over the summer.
Summer Reading Assignment
Our summer reading assignment will be posted and updated on our website. We will continue to share information as we add to the page.
