Tap dancing, soccer skills, animation, and explorations of heritage: what do all of these have in common? They are only a few of the topics that Rocky Run 8th grade students shared during their Exhibition of Learning through English 8 classes.

During the fourth quarter, students were asked to share a meaningful learning experience that they participated in during the year and connect it to Portrait of a Graduate skills. Students described how they honed their skills in baking, visual art, world languages, and sports. Some students showcased personal skills such as study skills and organization, while others focused on academic learning through their classes. “The diverse stories of learning being told by Rocky Run eighth graders show that the school values ALL learning, not just what takes place at school,” according to Dr. Janet Schiavone, 8th grade English teacher. The photos below share some highlights of the process, from choosing a topic and creating a display board to the final class presentations. The project culminated in a school-wide Exhibition of Learning, where teachers were invited to bring their classes to a fair-style presentation.
