Dear Rocky Run Families, 

The academic advising season is fast approaching and the Student Services Department would like to provide an overview of all the upcoming activities. This will be a large amount of information so please take a moment to read through everything and reach out to your child's school counselor for any questions. As we get closer to the dates, we will communicate with more detailed information.

Important Dates for Current 8th Graders Choosing Classes for 9th Grade

Students scheduled to attend Chantilly HS:

Curriculum Night: January 9 (snow date: January 21). Flyer, Flyer in Spanish

Chantilly HS Counselors meet with students who are scheduled to attend Chantilly next year on January 14 during 2nd and 3rd period

Students scheduled to attend Centreville HS:

Curriculum Night: January 15

Centreville HS Counselors meet with students who are scheduled to attend Centreville next year on January 8, 1-2 PM in the Lecture Hall

Students scheduled to attend Fairfax HS:

Curriculum Night: January 9 (snow date: January 16), A Letter from FHS

Students who are scheduled to attend Fairfax High School will take a field trip to Fairfax High School on January 16. Rising Pride Field Trip. 

Students scheduled to attend Westfield HS:

Curriculum Night: January 9 (snow date: January 16)

Westfield HS Counselors meet with students who are scheduled to attend Westfield next year on January 9, 9:30-10:30 in the Lecture Hall

Students scheduled to attend Robinson SS:

ALL Students:

8th grade students will be meeting with their RRMS counselors individually between February 3 and February 12 through science classes. 

Academic Advising for Rising 8th Grade Students

(Current 7th Graders)

Counselors will give a registration lesson on February 10 and 11 through Rock Time in the Lecture Hall.

  • February 10: Patriots and Capitals Teams
  • February 11: Nationals and Stars Teams

Counselors will meet with individual students to support them as they select their next year courses between February 13 and February 25. 

Important Dates for Rising 7th Grade Students

(Current 6th Graders) 

  • RRMS Counselor's visit to ES - December 9 to December 20
  • Rising 7th Grade Student Orientation (Students Only)
    • January 15&16 (snow date: Jan 21&22), 10-11:15 AM at RRMS
      • January 15 - Centreville, Poplar Tree, GBE and Willow Springs
      • January 16 - Brookfield, Bull Run, GBW, Deer Park and Powell
  • Curriculum Night and Electives Fair (Parents/Guardians Only)
    • January 30 (snow date: February 6) 6-7:30 PM at RRMS
      • 5:30-6 PM Optional Sessions: Meet and greet with Special Education and ESOL Department Chairs, administrators and counselors. 
      • 6-7:30 PM Curriculum Presentations and Electives Fair
